Getting Started

Welcome! These steps will get your Qubitunes ready for play!

Your Qubitunes uses Wi-Fi to complete its initial setup, to download games, and receive occasional software updates. After a game has been downloaded, everyday play is completely offline and screen-free.

Before you start

• Have your Qubitunes console and the included USB-C cable.
• Have your Wi-Fi network name and password ready (passwords are case-sensitive).
• Your Wi-Fi must have a 2.4GHz band — Qubitunes receives updates and downloads content over 2.4GHz only. Nearly all home routers support this. (If your router combines 2.4GHz and 5GHz under one name, see our Trouble Shooting guide.)
• Set up close to your router for the strongest signal.
• Have your smartphone (iPhone or Android) ready.

Step-by-step setup

1. Download the Qubs Qubitunes app

Get it free for iPhone from the App Store or Android from Google Play.

2. Turn on your Qubitunes

Press and hold the right-hand button for 1 second. This button also controls volume.

3. Put Qubitunes into pairing mode

Press and hold the left-hand button for 1 second to turn on Bluetooth. You should hear the audio change as Bluetooth pairing mode is initiated.

4. Pair with the app

Open the app and follow the prompts to pair with your Qubitunes via Bluetooth.

You may be prompted for Bluetooth access — tap Allow to let Qubitunes connect with your smartphone.

5. Plug in your USB-C cable

Connect your Qubitunes to power using the included USB-C cable — it needs to stay powered for the setup update.

6. Select your language

Choose your preferred language when prompted.

7. Connect to your Wi-Fi

In the app, choose your Wi-Fi network and enter your password. You can double-check your password by tapping the eye icon before submitting it!

When the connection succeeds, you'll hear this:

8. Let the first update finish

On first setup, Qubitunes downloads an update and sets your chosen language. Keep it powered on and close to the router until it finishes.

The initial update can take 10-15 minutes to complete, so hold tight.

9. Play!

Insert the included 4-in-1 "Hello" cartridge, place the wooden blocks on the play stage, and start creating audio adventures with music, stories, sounds, and games.

Downloading new games

Insert a new game cartridge and Qubitunes will automatically connect to Wi-Fi and download the game's content. You'll need the console plugged in via its USB cable and within range of your Wi-Fi network for this to work. Once the game has downloaded, you're free to play anywhere, anytime!
